Mission: Budgetpedia’s mission is to contribute to this vision by making the Toronto budget more accessible to the people of Toronto. This includes the information contained in the budget, including deeply granular data, as well as the process of collaboration and decision making

Vision: Our shared vision starts with that of a modern government for the City of Toronto, including full integration of digital platforms, open government, open data, and collaborative management.

Values: Our values are aligned with those of Civic Tech Toronto; these include among others, the importance of inclusiveness, collaboration and respect in achieving lasting change. PROJECT GOALS

  • To support informed debate about the Toronto budget through budget literacy (education), visualization, and engagement
  • To provide constructive feedback to the City about the Toronto budget
  • To advocate for open data (granular data), and public collaboration regarding the City budget

Henrik Bechmann is a retired software developer with a passion for supporting community/civil service collaboration. His software development background was mostly corporate departmental database applications. In community action he has worked with food co-ops, neighbourhood safety, and acted as webmaster for a number of community websites.
